Golf in Greece. Of course we mean it . In years past a frequent comment by visitors was: why aren’t there more than just a few golf courses? The answer was that Greece, being a basically dry country, simply didn’t have the grass and water resources to maintain many large courses. But all that has changed now. Well-heeled tourists are demanding golf among the other holiday amenities Greece has to offer. The Glyfada golf course in Athens has been around for a long time, the playground of politicians and tycoons. There are now others at Hersonisos course near Heraklion in Crete, the recently-refurbished Corfu course, the Porto Carras hotel complex course in Halkidiki, at big new golfing projects at Afantou in Rhodes. If you’re a dedicated golfer, here’s where you can practice your swing.
